Vortex

2015

Recorded and mixed by Cody Boyce
Mastered by Rat Bastard

Guitar: Gavin Perry, Beatriz Monteavaro, KC Toimil, Autumn Casey, Rick Diaz and Frank “Rat Bastard” Falestra

A collaboration with light artist Matthew Schreiber and six Miami noise, metal and punk guitarists (Gavin Perry, Beatriz Monteavaro, KC Toimil, Autumn Casey, Rick Diaz and Frank “Rat Bastard” Falestra). Inspired by Schreiber’s interest in the color experiments of Russian composer Alexander Scriabin, the piece repurposed Scriabin’s six-note “mystic chord.” Presented as a twenty minute live performance, Vortex was a site-specific laser, light and sound installation inside the ca. 1966 planetarium of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, Miami, FL.
